USDA will once again issue summer EBT (electronic benefits transfer) cards at the rate of $40 per child per month for 3 months ($120 per child total). In order for households to receive this benefit, your child/ren must be enrolled in Viola Public Schools as of May 31, 2024, and be on free or reduced meal status. The cards will be sent to the address on file with Viola Public Schools.

The annual Gifted and Talented Program’s Advisory Council meeting will be on Thursday, May 9th at 4:00 in Ms. Stone’s classroom. The Advisory council is available to parents of GT students and community members to answer questions about the status of the program. They also have the opportunity to bring concerns to the GT Advisory Council meetings. Parents and community members will be given the opportunity to ask questions and provide input. High school sports physicals will be April 30th in the high school gym starting at 9 am. Athletes will be bringing home forms that must be signed by parents. All students grades 6-11 must have a completed physical to compete in athletics next year.

Some of the Elementary GT students created Selfie Sculptures. They had to listen to a statement being read. If the statement was true about them, they had to follow directions for the color of paper and what to make with the strip (an arch, folded to make crinkles, fringed....etc.). I thought they turned out really cool and showed how well rounded these students are!

Baseball and Softball Update: Today's baseball game against Thayer has been cancelled. Tomorrow the boys will compete in the semifinals of the District Tournament at 3:30, and if they win the championship will begin at 6:00. The Softball District Tournament will start today with our girls playing at 5:00. If the girls win they will advance to the semifinals tomorrow at 3:00, with the championship game following.

It's that time of the year again. Free Sports Physicals will be provided by Salem 1st Choice Healthcare on April 30th. If your child participates in any sports (7th -12th grades School Year 2024-2025) , they must have a physical on file. Forms will be sent home with students next week . Please fill out and send back to school. Physical will not be done without a signed form. Thanks again to Salem 1st Choice Healthcare for donating their time to do these free physicals.
