Head Lice Information for Parents
You should examine your child’s head, especially behind the ears and at the nape of the neck, for crawling lice and nits if your child exhibits symptoms of a head lice infestation. If crawling lice or nits are found, all household members should be examined for crawling lice and nits every 2–3 days. Persons with live (crawling) lice or nits within ¼ inch or less of the scalp should be treated.
More on: Head Lice Symptoms
To eliminate head lice successfully, it is very important that all treatment instructions and steps be carefully followed and completed.
CDC does not make recommendations as to what specific product or products should be used to treat individuals. Both over-the-counter and prescription products are available. You may wish to contact your doctor, pharmacist, or health department for additional information about which product they recommend.
More on: Head Lice Treatment
Children diagnosed with live head lice do not need to be sent home early from school; they can go home at the end of the day, be treated, and return to class after appropriate treatment has begun. Nits may persist after treatment, but successful treatment should kill crawling lice.
Head lice can be a nuisance but they have not been shown to spread disease. Personal hygiene or cleanliness in the home or school has nothing to do with getting head lice.

Mrs. Browning's second grade classes have been learning about how countries celebrate the holidays. They enjoyed making (and eating!) yule logs from France. Joyeux Noel!

Very excited to announce that Camryn Graves has been accepted to Northark after visiting on Tuesday! Way to go!

Basketball games originally scheduled against West Side Greers Ferry on 12/12 have been rescheduled to 12/21, and junior girls will now be playing instead of the junior boys.

We tried the trending secret teacher/staff dress up week to see if students noticed. Day one was flannel, and despite pretty much every one wearing it, very few students seemed to notice. Day two was hunter vs hunted. The camouflage was noticed more than the animal print. Day three is Christmas attire, and we were finally able to take a picture! Please note more were dressed up but in class. Anyone curious about what day four will be?... it's escalating a bit!

Kindergarten students made ornaments out of modeling clay and decorated them in Art class.

The items from the FFA fruit sale are here! If you sold items, they need to be picked up today. Mr. Corby May will be at the ball games tonight if you are unable to pick up items during school today

I am needing parents of students who have immunization exemptions to get me a copy of the approval letter for the 2023/24 school year.
The Arkansas Dept of Health is authorized by ACT 999 of 2003 to grant individual exemptions from the immunization requirements. After the guardians have received your approval letter, you are responsible for notifying the student's school that your exemption request has been approved. A copy of the approval letter is to be placed in the student's file at school.
If your child has an exemption form , I need a copy of the approval letter. If you have not filed for the form , please do so at the Arkansas Dept of Health website.

Arkansas Children’s Hospital will again offer a virtual-only Good Mourning Grief Support Group series for students in grades K-12 and their parents/guardians. The Parent Orientation will be Monday, January 8 and groups will begin the following week on Monday and Tuesday evenings and go for 8 weeks. This means that December is the best time, if at all possible, for families to submit online applications. There is NO CHARGE for the program, and because it's virtual, the series will be available to any family in Arkansas. You can contact Greg Adams at 501-364-6549 for more information.
