The Viola High School gym will be closed for construction during the athletic dead weeks, through at least July 10th.
Due to the impact of the LEARNS Act, Viola School has revised its calendar for 2023-24.
The new, EARLIER start date is Wednesday, August 16.
Also, Christmas Break now starts on Thursday, December 21.

Due to a water leak, Viola School buildings will be without water for most of the day Tuesday. Summer staff should take this into consideration and may need to contact their supervisor to determine if they need to report to work.
Viola School will also be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

The next ACT date is Saturday, July 15. The last day to register for the test, without late fees, is June 16.
B&W Asphalt will be seal coating and painting the parking area in front of the Viola High School and inside the gates from Wednesday through Friday this week.
The gravel area behind the elementary and the areas ar around the bus garage will be available for staff and those going to basketball camps.

Don't forget that Mechanically Challenged, Viola High School Robotics, is hosting Balloon Warfare Robotics camp that begins tomorrow morning. Registration will be from 8:30 - 9:00 AM. The camp will be 9 AM until noon, Monday through Friday. Students will learn to assemble a mini robot and code using Scratch. A snack will be provided.
Report cards are available for pickup in the high school and elementary offices.
If students are interested in taking concurrent credit courses in the fall and did not get the required scores, they can retake the Accuplacer test over the summer. Students can contact Ozarka’s Ash Flat campus at 870-994-7273 or the Melbourne campus at 870-368-2049 and schedule a time to test. In addition to scheduling the test, they can tell you if they recommend a certain study prep site or study app to help students prepare.
Our Senior High Sports Banquet is Thursday, May 18 at 6 pm in the high school cafeteria. This event is for all athletes who participated in high school athletics this year and their families.
I would like to remind everyone about the elementary awards tomorrow at 9:00 am, in the gym. Everyone is welcome to come and be a part of honoring the Viola Elementary students for their accomplishments during this school year.

The Longhorn Baseball Team just won again. Final score 6-4 over the Ozark Catholic Griffins. They play Mount Ida tomorrow at 1 pm to see who will play in the state finals next weekend in Conway.
The Softball team is playing Taylor as we speak. Go Lady Longhorns!

Mechanically Challenged, Viola High School's robotics team, will be hosting a pair of robotics camps this summer in the High School Science Lab. The first camp will take place on May 22-26 from 9 AM - 12 PM, which is the week after school dismisses for summer vacation.
The camp is open to all students that were in 3rd through 6th grades this past school year. The camp is free, but will be accepting donations to cover the cost of the camp and to support the robotics team in general. Registration will be on Monday, May 22 from 8:30 - 9:00 AM, the morning of the first day of camp. Students will be provided a snack and all of the supplies they will need to have a successful camp. Limited seating is available, so get there early!
During the camp, students will learn how to build a mini robot. They will also learn basic block coding techniques using Scratch. All of this will be in preparation for the balloon warfare tournament which will take place during the latter part of the week of camp.
