Parents & Guardians of Seniors,

Please encourage your child to be checking his/her school email often. We are emailing lots of information to them. On August 5th, students were emailed a Senior Information Packet. Since then, we have emailed information about scholarships, colleges, and various opportunities. This semester, your college-bound student should be deciding where he/she wants to attend college and completing college applications. The packet they received gives information on utilizing college visit days to help them gather information on colleges of interest. College recruiters have already started coming on campus to meet with students who signed up to see them. Seniors also have the opportunity to attend a College/Career Fair at Mtn. Home High School in the near future.

On October 1st, the FAFSA (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa) and Academic Challenge Scholarship (https://sams.adhe.edu/) applications will open up. The FAFSA is the federal application for financial aid. The Academic Challenge/Lottery Scholarship is the state scholarship application that will check your child’s eligibility for all state sponsored scholarships and grants. If you would like to set up a time to complete these with a financial aid advisor, let Mrs. May know. Remember that ACT scores are also very important in getting college scholarships. See Mr. Thrasher about signing up to take the ACT again. He can tell your child whether or not they can test for free.
